History of a breed
The father of this excellent dog breed, which so many people keep, was Max von Stephanitz, student of the Berlin Veterinary College. His ambition was to form a perfect modern working dog. In the 1899 during the dog show he saw a dog, which fit him. Its name was Hector Linksrhein. This dog combined strength, intelligency, loyalty and beauty. He had to buy it. Von Stephanitz renamed the dog to Horand from Grafrath. It was the first German Shepherd written to the German Shepherd Dog society´s register. The popularity of the German Shepherd grown quickly. It took only few years and german Sehpherd raised up to be popular and famous. Nearly after the first puppies had been registrated, its expansion started. For example, the British Kennel Club had registrated the first German Shepherd in 1919. The succes of breed was amazing, in 1926 there were 8 000 registrated German Shepherds. In these days it is a common dog all over the world.
Possibilities of usage
The abilities of German Shepherd are without borders. People use it as a sheep dog, it is also very good watcher. Many forces use this breed as a working dog - armies, police, rescuers. The best army and police dogs are trained in the Czech republic, where is a tradition of working cynology. Working german shepherds from Czech are used by forces in USA, Izrael and some others. Mainly in the Germany and Austria it is still used as a pastoral dog. Thanks to its intelligence, it could be used in many dog sports, including dog dancing.I think, the most od German Shepherds are used to guard owners property and family. German Shepherd is relatively big dog and can look agressive and dangerous if he want to. The burglars do not have a chance. You need only to give your dog basic training, and everything else it knows thanks to its genome. This is fantastic. It understands differnces between its own family, friends, other animals in house and non invited people, burglars etc.
Yes, it is a perfect dog, which fit almost everyone. If you spent with your dog some time every day, it will repay you by flawless loyalty and obedience. And what about you? Do you keep German Shepherd? Or another dog breed?
